THE MISSION

Why we started Snapfab

The problem no one fixed that led us here

Our hands-on experience with CAD, simulation,
and advanced

manufacturing lead us here

The adoption of injection molding early in product development has been painfully slow. Why do engineers and companies wait until the last possible moment to use the very process that defines their production? Too often, it feels intimidating — too costly, too slow, too tied up in CapX red-tape and layers of internal approvals. By the time teams finally pull the trigger, design freedom is gone, risks are higher, and opportunities have already slipped away.

We’ve spent our careers inside product development — working with CAD, simulation, and advanced manufacturing — and we saw this same pattern again and again. Even at Fathom, where Rich helped thousands of innovators move faster with new technologies, traditional prototyping and tooling still created bottlenecks that slowed teams down.

Snapfab was born from those frustrations. We wanted to make it possible for engineers to use production processes earlier in the cycle — to test, learn, and iterate with real materials when it matters most, not when it’s already too late..

Rethinking access to real parts

We asked ourselves a simple question: what if getting molded parts was as easy as getting 3D prints back in the early days? What if engineers didn’t have to wait on CapX approvals, internal tooling teams, or rounds of DFM meetings just to try something in the real world?

At Snapfab, we’re shifting that mindset. Injection molding shouldn’t be the last step — it should be a tool for iteration and exploration. We built a simple platform that gives engineers the confidence to access to molded parts early, without the friction, while still lending teams the expertise they need to move forward. By making the process easier, we believe teams can move faster, take bigger swings, and bring better products to market.

Redefining what's possible

Our team has lived these challenges from every angle — running production floors, building software platforms, launching tooling programs, and managing global supply chains. We know how hard it is to move quickly when the old rules and processes get in the way.

That’s why we set out to design something different. We know the rules well enough to know when to break them. Just as 3D printing opened new doors for prototyping in the early 2000s, Snapfab rethinks injection molding for today’s pace of innovation.

For us, it’s not about tools or platforms or buzzwords. It’s about giving engineers the freedom to keep momentum, explore more ideas, and bring better products into the world.
